Glen Cove Students Win Lions Poster Contest

The contest encourages kids to express creatively what peace means to them, promotes tolerance and understanding.

Finley Middle School students Jennifer LaRocca, Madeliane Stark and Odalis Yanes of Glen Cove were selected as winners in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest.

The contest, which encourages children ages 11-13 to express creatively what peace means to them, promotes tolerance and understanding. The 2014-15 contest theme was “Peace, Love and Understanding.” First place was awarded to Yanes, second place to LaRocca, with Starke placing third.

The first place poster created by Yanes was sent to Lions District Governor Fred Rieger and entered into district judging. Ultimately, Yanes was awarded second place in Nassau County.
