Santos Expulsion Resolution Filed; Vote Expected Within 2 Days
The first-term congressman predicted last week that he would be expelled.

WASHINGTON, DC — Time may be running out for George Santos in Congress. A privileged expulsion resolution was filed on Tuesday by congressmen Robert Garcia (D-CA) and Dan Goldman (D-NY).
Garcia filed the same motion in February.
While Santos survived an expulsion vote earlier this month, the outlook is less promising for the embattled lawmaker this time.

Santos told an X Spaces interview last week that he expects to be expelled, CBS News reported.
It follows the 56-page House Ethics Committee report that was released last week citing "substantial evidence" of federal wrongdoing. The report claimed Santos funneled money from his campaign to pay for personal items, including Botox procedures, shopping at Ferragamo and purchases on OnlyFans.

Naysa Woomer, Santos' former communications director, told Patch last week, "I would be shocked if he does survive this one."
Speaking on Capitol Hill Tuesday, Santos said, "It's the third time we are going through this. I don't care," ABC News reported. "I was sent here by the people of the Third District of New York. I represent them. The political class in Washington, D.C., if they want to send me home, if they think this was a fair process, if they think this is how it should be done, and if they're confident that this is a constitutional way of doing it -- God bless their hearts."
Santos previously pleaded not guilty to 23 federal counts.
House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Guest (R-MS) was also expected to formally file an expulsion resolution.
Guest said the report's findings were "more than sufficient to warrant punishment and the most appropriate punishment is expulsion," according to CBS News.
The GOP can postpone the vote until Thursday. If Santos resigns or they call up another expulsion resolution, Rep. Garcia and Goldman’s would be moot, a spokesperson for Rep. Garcia said.
