Man Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver in Great Neck Plaza Dies From Injuries

BREAKING: Authorities are still looking to identify the driver who fled the scene of the crash last week.

The 43-year-old man who was struck by a hit-and-run driver last week in Great Neck Plaza has died from his injuries, Nassau Police said Friday.

According to police, the man, whose name is being withheld at this time, was attempting to cross South Middle Neck Road at Barstow Road when he was struck by an SUV heading southbound on South Middle Neck Road at 9:53 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.

The driver fled the scene but police were able to capture surveillance footage of the vehicle, which suffered extensive damage to the passenger side headlight and fender area. An example of what the vehicle would look like can be found here.

Police believe the vehicle may be a 2009 to 2015 Nissan Rogue that is gray or light blue/gray.
