Plainview Man Killed in Single-Car Melville Crash

A 50-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash in Melville on Tuesday night, police say.

According to authorities, Eric Schneider, of Plainview, was driving a 2016 Nissan Maxima westbound on Old Country Road near Old East Neck Road when he drove over a median and struck a guardrail at around 7:06 p.m.

The man was transported to Plainview Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Schneider may have experienced a medical emerceny prior to the crash, detective say.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety crash.
