Here are the top 3 stories in Huntington today:
- Amazon leases Route 110 site for warehouses. Amazon has signed a new 10-year lease for the former Newsday headquarters at 90 Ruland in Melville. This will expand their 'Last Mile' warehouses on LI, with this specific building encompassing over 276,000 square feet. The warehouses are smaller than the Amazon distribution centers and are the last stop for package before going out for delivery. "While this prospective project is still in the early stages, we are excited about the potential to bring new jobs with great pay and benefits to the area and to continue our investment in the state of New York," Amazon's Verena Gross told Newsday. - New clock tower in Huntington Station unveiled last month. The Huntington Station Business Improvement District had donated an electric clock tower which was put at the corner of Pulaski Road and New York Avenue. The ceremony was held last month, led by Supervisor Ed Smyth and town officials. "I'm particularly proud of this clock tower because I look at it as something that's going to be everlasting," said Frank Cosentino, president of the Huntington Station Business Improvement District. "I'm especially proud of all our fellow board members and all the work they do, I really appreciate this day in support of permanent improvements to our downtown." (Huntington Patch)
- African American Heritage Club holds Black History month presentation. The club held the presentation on Feb. 17 at the Walt Whitman High School Performing Arts Center. "Students, alumni and special guests paid tribute to important contributions in our history with a collection of literature readings, facts, spoken word, dance, and musical performances that kept the packed house wanting more."
