Here are the top 3 stories today in Huntington:
- Cold Spring Harbor High School presented one of its students a certificate of merit for being named National Merit Finalist 2022. Caitlin M. Roberts called it one of her proudest moments as she is one of only 2,500 seniors out of 1.6 million eligible to receive the award. "The Cold Spring Harbor Central School District is extremely proud of Caitlin M. Roberts, commends her for her commitment to success, and congratulates her on this remarkable achievement," the district wrote in a statement. (Huntington Patch)
- A 10-year-old Plainview girl organizes Ukraine relief concert in Huntington. Charlize Tuozzo organized the event to be held on April 6 at The Paramount from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. "I planned this concert because the people in Ukraine need help," Charlize told Patch. "I see the news and the pictures of the kids crying because their dads cannot leave with them. I can't imagine having to leave without my daddy or brothers. I see how sad everyone is, I see their homes and cities destroyed. I worry about where everyone will live after leaving their homes. I want to have this concert so that we can raise money to help them. It's very important to me to at least try to do something to help them. We need to help them." Tickets are $35 and all proceeds will go to the BStrong charity founded by Bethenny Frankel. (Huntington Patch)
- Huntington weather report for the weekend ahead. This week has seen some of the coldest March temperatures in years, but the good news is we will be able to squeak out a beautiful day Saturday. Friday brings rain in the morning with clearing later in the day, and Saturday will be a beautiful spring day with a high of 55 and sunny skies. Sunday brings more rain which will be the common theme over the next week. (Weather.com)
