Levittown Students Host Special Feast
English language learners celebrate American tradition with culinary students.
During the week of Thanksgiving, 35 English language learners enrolled in the Levittown Public School District were treated to a special feast prepared and served by culinary students of Gerard R. Claps Career and Technical Center at the Levittown Memorial Education Center.
Members of the MacArthur High School World Language Honor Society accompanied the students and shared their Thanksgiving experiences and favorite holiday foods with the English language learners.
The purpose of the event, held annually, was to expose the non-native students to the essence of this American holiday. The ELL students enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving feast including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and corn, and they each delivered a speech about their experiences in America during the meal.
