Cops: Island Park Man Shopped at Home Depot Using Client Information

Owner of Oceanside boxing club bought $30,000 of merchandise from Home Depots across Long Island, cops said.

The owner of a boxing club faces charges after he bought thousands of dollars of merchandise from Home Depot using client information, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops said Thomas Donovan, 39, of Island Park, took credit card account information from his clients at 5 Star Boxing in Oceanside and used it to buy more than $30,000 of merchandise, cops said. He crossed Nassau and Suffolk Counties making purchases in November and December, police said. Donovan was located outside his home and charged, cops said.

Police executed a search warrant and found an unlicensed, defaced handgun and a quantity of steroids in his possession, detectives said.

Donovan was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identity theft, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, first-degree defraud, and second-degree identity theft. He will be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
