Cops: Man Shot in Head, Killed in Freeport
Man was shot early Sunday morning in backyard of Freeport home, police said.

Update: Police have identified the victim as Lyreek Crawley, of Freeport.
A man was found shot and killed early Sunday morning in Freeport, according to Nassau County Police.
At 1:10 a.m., police said they received notification from Shot Spotter, a gunfire detection system that locates gunshots based on sound.

The alert was quickly followed by a 911 call to Freeport Police summoning them to 49 Colonial Avenue, cops said.
Responding officers found an unidentified 21-year-old man in the backyard of the home with a gunshot wound in the head, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a Nassau County AMT.

The investigation is ongoing.
Detectives are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
