Man Riding on Trunk of Car in Farmingville Parking Lot Dies After Falling Off
Incident occurred early Saturday, police say.

A 21-year-old Patchogue man died early Saturday after falling off a car’s trunk and striking his head on the pavement in Farmingville, police said.
According to police, Rafael Acosta-Lemus was riding on the trunk of a friend’s moving Volkswagen four-door sedan, in the parking lot of 1075 Portion Road, when he apparently slipped off the trunk and fell onto the pavement at about 1:40 a.m.
The car, operated by a 20-year-old Brentwood man was being driven slowly for a short distance to a different vehicle parked within the lot, police said.

Acosta-Lemus was transported by Farmingville Fire Department Rescue to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. No one else was injured in the incident.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety inspection and the investigation is continuing.
