1. Developer gets $333,000 in tax breaks to revamp Long Beach medical center (newsday.com) — A long-vacant former medical center on West Park Avenue is set for a $10 million overhaul into office and retail space, backed by $333,000 in county tax breaks. Long Beach officials say the deal eliminates an eyesore, brings jobs and keeps the property fully on the tax rolls through a separate services agreement with the developer.
   

2. October on Long Island: 30 Fall Events for 2026 (longisland.com) — Long Beach residents can look forward to the City of Long Beach Fall Festival on October 10–11 at Kennedy Plaza and along Park Avenue, with rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and a children's costume parade. It's one of 30 October events across Long Island highlighted in this guide, offering everything from food festivals to haunted attractions within an easy drive.
   

3. East Rockaway, Lynbrook rocked by nor'easter (liherald.com) — Long Beach saw more than two inches of rain and persistent coastal flooding during the weekend nor'easter, with LIRR service on the Long Beach Branch suspended and replaced by shuttle buses. Officials warn that saturated ground and high tides could still bring falling trees, road closures and dangerous surf, urging residents to stay cautious and allow extra travel time.
   

4. Six Inches Of Floodwater Wrecks Long Beach Family's Home In Nor'easter — Friends Hoping To Help (newsbreak.com) — A Long Beach family with a young child is scrambling for temporary housing after six inches of nor'easter floodwater destroyed much of their home, including the kitchen and living spaces. Friends have launched an online fundraiser to help cover housing, essential items and repairs as canals along the South Shore continue to pose flooding risks.
