'Mix It Up' in Malverne Teaches Tolerance
Davison Avenue students celebrate their differences on "Mix It Up at Lunch Day."
Third through fifth graders at Davison Avenue Intermediate School in the Malverne School District celebrated their differences as part of Mix It Up at Lunch Day on Oct. 23.
A national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance more than a decade ago, Mix It Up at Lunch Day encourages students to identify, question and cross social boundaries. Students came to school dressed “all mixed up” and were encouraged to swap their usual seats at lunch for another.
