Molloy Students Teach Lynbrook Kids About Health Safety
Molloy College nursing department members offer age-appropriate lessons to young Lynbrook students.

The Lynbrook School District’s Kindergarten Center students learned all about health and safety during a visit from members of the Molloy College Nursing Program.
The college undergraduates, who are concentrating on community health studies and will receive their degrees in the spring, presented age-appropriate lessons in various health-related topics.
Classes visited a health fair in the school gymnasium, where they rotated among six different stations run by the Molloy volunteers. Booths focused on hand washing, germ awareness, playground and street safety, exercise, nutrition and food allergies. Visual display boards, pictures and props were utilized to further engage the kindergarteners.

The guest instructors discussed the importance of covering one’s mouth when coughing and explained how quickly germs can spread. They demonstrated the proper sanitizing techniques and taught the children that effective hand washing requires about the amount of time that is needed to sing the familiar song, “Happy Birthday.” The Molloy students also reviewed different forms of physical fitness and led their kindergarten pupils in jumping jacks, pushups, and hula-hoop exercises.
