The Glass Menagerie at Nassau Community College

Held in the Little Theatre.

In “The Glass Menagerie,” illusions make life bearable for a family abandoned by “a telephone man who fell in love with long distances.” The mother cheers herself up with memories of her youth as a sought-after Southern belle; the daughter loses herself in an imaginary world of glass animals; and the son, who finds solace in the deadening effects of drink and the fantasy served up in the movies, is torn between love for his family and the need to escape before he, too, is lost. “The Glass Menagerie” was written by brilliant, prolific, but troubled author and playwright Tennessee Williams.

Tickets, which cost $9.00 per person, are $7.00 for seniors age 55 and over. Tickets sold at the door for that day’s performance are free for college students who have a valid ID. These tickets are available beginning one hour before curtain. For more information about the play or to order tickets, call the Theatre Box Office at 516-572-7676 Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
