Great Dogs and Adoption Events This Week

3 dogs and a kitty. No, this is not the title of the next highest grossing feature film, its who is looking for their forever home this week!

Ladies first. Available at Last Hope Animal Rescue in Wantagh is this gorgeous young mother cat named Grasshopper, recently rescued by Last Hope with her kittens from a backyard. Now that the kittens have been placed for adoption, its Grasshopper’s turn. Grasshopper is about a year old and is described as a sweet and lovely girl that would so appreciate a wonderful Forever home of her own! She is spayed and has had all of her medicals completed. Please come by and see if you are a match!

And talk about sweethearts. Also at Last Hope, Paisley III is a Pit/Lab mix with pretty, paisley brindle feet who comes from very crowded Brookhaven Town Shelter. Last Hope asked their trainer to go there to evaluate dogs’ temperaments and she really stood out in the canine crowd. Paisley III is hoping to find a wonderful home quickly. And at The Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter awaits Contessa. She is a gorgeous, laid back, loving, affectionate, and an all around chill girl, who really wants to get out of the shelter and into a home! She would be a great companion to most families, especially families who are looking for a fun loving, calm companion! Contessa is 5 1/2 years old, and originally came to TOH as a stray. For the last 9 months, Contessa has been lucky enough to be an office dog, getting a break from the stressful kennel, and getting to enjoy her days hanging out with our staff. Contessa has proven to be an exceptional office dog; she is totally housetrained, quiet and enjoys her kennel, she has no issues sharing her toys with you, she loves to give kisses, she doesn’t mind being dressed up in crazy outfits, and has even found friends in the most unlikely canines. Contessa is social and friendly with other dogs, and not especially playful. She would love to be your new best friend!!

Now this handsome guy named Sugar Daddy is a hunky, GORGEOUS, 3 year old blue nose pittie who came to the TOH as a stray. His finder loved him so much, that although she can’t adopt him, has been keeping up to date on his progress. SUGAR DADDY NOT ONLY HAS THE LOOKS, BUT THE PERSONALITY TO MATCH!! He is a rockstar with other dogs and although showed food guarding during his initial behavior assessment, the shelter’s behavior specialist says “Sugar Daddy is the poster pup for a recovering resource guarder!” Sugar Daddy has received ten (that’s a lot!) sessions of behavior training, and has improved greatly with each session!!! This smart, sweet guy would make an amazing pet to anyone with some patience and some dog experience who would be willing to keep up with his good manners. Sugar Daddy is SURE to make a splash walking down the street, so if you are looking for a well behaved, lovable showstopper of a pooch, HERE HE IS!
