La Semolina Pizza, Home of the 34-Inch Pie, Closes

The restaurant was famous for serving their oversized pie dubbed "The Penn Station."

The home of the famous 34-inch pizza called "The Penn Station," has recently closed down.

The owners of La Semolina Pizza, located on 526 Broadway in Massapequa, Michael and Luigi DellaMonica recently shut down the restaurant, according to a report in Newsday.

The father-son duo began making large pizzas at a pizzeria in Oneonta until they discovered that 34-inches is the largest they could go, eventually bringing their signature pizza to Massapequa, according to the report.

On Yelp!, user Tracy K. of Syosset, wrote this review:

They were friendly, and brought cheer with their over sized pizza options. They have a standard large, an extra large and a super sized 34" pie. Great fun for a crowd. Pizza crust clearly cooked in a clean oven. Nothing charred.
