'Legally Blonde' Comes To Massapequa High School
The musical adaptation of the popular movie will take to the school's stage this weekend.
The 2001 comedy “Legally Blonde” is coming to the Massapequa High School stage for three performances in early March. The Fine and Performing Arts Department presents the musical adaptation of the movie on March 8 and 9.
Senior Antoinette Corigliano plays the lead role of Elle Woods, the bubbly law school student. Antoinette, a veteran performer of Massapequa High School’s musical and drama productions, has her biggest lead to date.
“It’s such a fun show,” she said. “I’m excited that I’m ending my high school career with this.”

Other lead roles include Adam Koch as Emmett, James Kelly as Warner, JoJo Icart as Callahan, Bridget Rogers as Paulette and Maria Leonardi as Brooke. The cast includes several season student actors. As sixth-graders, Kelly and Koch were among those who appeared in the high school’s 2014 production of “Oliver,” and Rogers has been acting since fourth-grade at Lockhart Elementary School, which has an annual spring musical.
Corigliano, Rogers, Leonardi and Icart join fellow seniors Samantha Carroll, Samantha DeLiguori, Jack Graziano, Tyler Knabe, Lindsey Jolly, Kim Livingston, Tatum McMullen and Jenny Testaverde in their final Massapequa High School performances.

Pit director Andy Dwork leads the orchestra of music teachers and students. High school art teacher Gale Domingo and her students are painting the sets. Junior Talia Cartafalsa is stage manager and freshman Chris Varvi is assistant stage manager.
There is a free performance for local senior citizens on Thursday, March 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Show times are Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door or can be purchased in advance by calling the music office at (516) 308-5085.
“This cast has brought their incredible talent and their whole heart to every rehearsal,” Tauches said. “This will be the strongest production that Massapequa High School has ever seen.”
