Massapequa Kindergartners Celebrate Thanksgiving

Kindergartners traveled from room to room at McKenna Elementary School enjoying stations that teach about Thanksgiving.

From Massapequa School District: Kindergartners traveled from room to room at McKenna Elementary School in the Massapequa School District on Nov. 21 for Thanksgiving-themed fun. Each station had a different activity.

Before visiting the centers, students learned about the voyage of the Mayflower and the early lives of the Pilgrims and Native Americans. They read stories about how the first Thanksgiving was celebrated.

Children churned milk into butter and enjoyed it with cornbread, made Native American headdresses, created edible versions of the Mayflower using apple slices, toothpicks and marshmallows, and decorated paper bags to look like scarecrows, which were then filled with popcorn. Teachers Amy Agovino, Catherine Bellomo, Kathy Mulitz and Gina Ring led the activities.
