Massapequa Schools Closed Tuesday
The district announced just after 12 p.m. Monday that schools would remain closed Tuesday, Feb. 24.

MASSAPEQUA, NY. — Massapequa Public Schools will be closed Tuesday as a blizzard continues to drop snow across Long Island, the district announced Monday afternoon.
Superintendent Dr. William Brennan said in a message to parents and community members that the schools would have a traditional snow day Tuesday, highlighting the tireless efforts of Massapequa school district’s grounds crew and custodial staff in his address.
“Our maintenance and grounds crews and custodial staff work tirelessly — through the night and the very early hours of the morning enduring the storm — clearing parking lots, shoveling walkways, salting entrances and preparing our buildings so they are safe and ready for when we return,” Brennan said.

That storm has already led to 75 accidents and over 150 health incidents across Nassau County, leaving as much as 20 inches of snow on some parts of Long Island and closing multiple Nassau County districts for Tuesday.
Per Monday afternoon’s address, however, that return wouldn’t come until at least Wednesday. Brennan had previously written to the community on Sunday that a Tuesday snow day was possible. According to his Sunday address, the governor's office had told districts that they wouldn't be required to make up for instructional days lost to this week's blizzard.
