Merrick School District Celebrates Employee Tenure

Three teachers and a school psychologist were permanently welcomed into the arms of the Merrick school district as they were granted tenure on Tuesday.

Samantha Saturn was honored with tenure at the meeting. She is the psychologist at Birch School and is also an alumi of Merrick schools.

Chatterton School had two employees up for tenure – Jessica Hudes and Allison Bloom. Hudes is a fourth-grade teacher at Chatterton, while Bloom is the technology teacher.

Lakeside also presented its technology teacher to the board for tenure.

"This is such a happy night," said Susan Schwartz, member of the board.

Dr. Rainer Melucci, superintendent, agreed. "I would like extend my sincerest congratulations on such a momentous occasion. On behalf of the board, please accept my congratulations on this most noteworthy accomplishment," he said.

The board also made aware that the budget presentation is on the website for anyone who has not seen it. Melucci urges anyone who has not seen it to see it and to make sure that the town residents get out and vote for the school budget Tuesday.
