Police: N. Bellmore Man Dies in Upstate Car Crash

Man driving on slick roads flips over on Taconic State Parkway, troopers said.

A North Bellmore man died after his car flipped over on a highway in Upstate New York, according to New York State Police.

Alan Stein, 60, was driving on the Taconic State Parkway Sunday when he lost control of his 1992 Mazda Miata, troopers said. The car veered off the slick roadway, striking a tree before reentering the road and coming to rest in the left lane, police said.

The crash was reported at 6:21 p.m. as state troopers, firefighters from Milan Fire Department, and paramedics rushed to the scene, cops said.

Stein, who was trapped in the overturned car, suffered severe head trauma and died at the scene, police said.

No criminality is suspected in the crash. Anyone who has additional information about the accident is asked to call the New York State Police in Livingston at (845) 677-7300.
