6 Officers Injured When 40 Inmates Throw Rocks, Attack
The officers' union said the melee in the Hudson Valley began after an inmate wasn't allowed to the prison yard phone.

STORMVILLE, NY — Six officers at Green Haven Correctional Facility in Stormville were injured when inmates attacked them May 8, the New York State Correctional Officers Police Benevolent Association said. The union said the officers were hurt when a group of 40 inmates began throwing rocks at them.
The incident began when an inmate attacked an officer because he wasn't allowed to use the prison yard phone, the Poughkeepsie Journal said, because he didn't have his ID with him.
The union said that inmate punched the correctional officer in the face, head and body. He also punched and kicked other officers who arrived at the scene of the attack to subdue him.

It wasn't until a third gas projectile was fired that the inmates were pushed back and ran toward the yard door.
The inmates forced their way into the facility and ran through the cell block before they eventually complied with officers' orders to put their hands on the wall, midhudsonnews.com said.
One makeshift weapon was found, and all inmates will face disciplinary charges.
