Health Care Worker Accused Of Stealing From Client

Police are asking the public if anyone else thinks they were victims of fraudulent billing.

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — State police arrested a Poughkeepsie home health care worker and accused her of bilking a client. Police charged Shamecca M. Allah, 34, of Poughkeepsie, with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Police said, after receiving a complaint of possible fraud, an investigation found that Allah stole $1,450 from a victim under false pretenses while working as a home health care aide for Community Home Health Care in Poughkeepsie.

Allah fraudulently charged the victim for services while simultaneously submitting hours to Community Home Health Care for the purpose of billing the victim's health insurance carrier for the same services, police said.

She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Pleasant Valley Court March 21.

State police asked that, if any persons believe they may also be victims of fraudulent billing by either Shamecca Allah or Community Home Health Care, he or she should call Investigator Melilli of the state police at 845-677-7300.
