Nor'easter: Flood Watch, Coastal Flood Advisory, Wind Advisory Issued
Miller Place-Rocky Point could get drenched with 3 inches of rain.

An approaching December nor’easter shows no signs of sparing Long Island from heavy rain and potentially damaging winds.
The National Weather Service has issued several alerts for the island:
- Flood watch- in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 1 a.m. Wednesday
- Coastal flood advisory- in effect from 7 a.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Tuesday
- Wind advisory- in effect from 8 a.m. Tuesday until 5 p.m. Tuesday
Wind gusts will be strongest Tuesday morning into the early afternoon, the NWS said. These wind gusts of up to 50 mph may cause scattered power outages and possible damage to holiday decorations.

The latest forecast:
- Late Afternoon- A chance of light snow. Cloudy, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. East wind around 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
- Tonight- A chance of drizzle and snow before midnight, then rain. Temperature rising to around 40 by 4am. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
- Tuesday- Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 46. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Windy, with a northeast wind 18 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
- Tuesday Night- Rain likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Wind chill values between 30 and 35. North wind 15 to 17 mph becoming south after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Wednesday- Showers likely. Cloudy, with a high near 43. North wind 14 to 16 mph becoming southeast in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
- Wednesday Night- A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
