Supreme Court Judge Ute Wolff Lally Honored

The Honorable Ute Wolff Lally, Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, was recently honored by the Garden City German Club for her contributions to German-American relations and unwavering support of charitable and community causes.

At a ceremony attended by colleagues and friends in the legal community, Justice Lally was presented a Certificate by Professor Fred Schoen recognizing her as the highest
German-born elected official in the United States.

Supreme Court Justice Ute Wolff Lally earned her B.A. with honors, in mathematics from Hunter College. After graduation, she worked under Top Secret Clearance for Sperry Gyroscope on the Polaris submarine project. She the received her Juris Doctor from New York Law School, graduating cum laude and second in her class. Upon graduation, she joined her husband’s law practice, Lally and Lally, Esqs. She began her judicial career in 1985 serving as a Judge of the Nassau County District Court. In 1996 she was elected to the New York State Supreme Court in Nassau County.

An active community leader, Justice Lally has served on the Appellate Division Joint Grievance Committee and chaired the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency from
1980 to 1985, creating more than 30,000 new jobs. She served as a Director of the American Red Cross, organizing the annual Red Cross Swim-A-Cross across Oyster Bay.
Justice Lally has received numerous honors and awards and is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, Nassau County Womens Bar Association, Academy of Law,
Supreme Court Judges Association, National Association of Women Judges and the Federalist Society.
