Mount Vernon Man Faces Weapons Charge In Orange County

He was stopped on the New York State Thruway on Wednesday.

A Mount Vernon man faces a weapons charge in Orange County after a traffic stop on the New York State Thruway.

At 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, New York State troopers stopped a vehicle on Interstate 87 in Cornwall for a vehicle and traffic violation. Interviewing the driver, the trooper concluded probable cause to search the vehicle had been established, police said.

Enrique C. Cardoza, 25, was found to be in possession of a pair of brass knuckles.

Cardoza was taken into custody, transported, and processed by state police at their Newburgh office, where he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. He was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Cornwall Court on March 10.
