Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car In Mount Vernon

The incident happened Monday.

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A pedestrian was struck and killed late Monday afternoon by a car in Mount Vernon. The victim was 61-year-old Patricia Mackey, Mount Vernon police said.

The accident occurred at about 5:05 p.m. at the intersection of South 9th Avenue and West 1st Street, police said.

Police did not identify the driver of the car, a 37-year-old woman. She remained at the scene, police said. She was not injured.

Police said their preliminary investigation suggests the incident was accidental in nature and no criminality is suspected at this time.
