ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — A former youth coach who admitted sexually abusing some of his students pleaded guilty to one count of sexual conduct against a child. Joseph Lewin faces four years in state prison and five years post-release supervision. Upon his release, he must register as a sex offender under the provisions of Megan’s Law.

Lewin, 68, admitted all the allegations in the indictment, Acting Rockland County District Attorney Kevin Gilleece said Friday.

Lewin, a Port Chester resident, was originally charged with five counts of second-degree sexual conduct against a child and first-degree sexual abuse, all felonies.

“As a youth coach, this defendant held a position of power over his students," Gilleece said in the announcement. "He abused their trust and took advantage of his vulnerable victims. He has pled guilty, waived his right to appeal and will now be held accountable for the terrible crimes he committed. Such predatory conduct cannot go unpunished. He will go to State Prison where he belongs.”

Lewin, a longtime gymnastics coach who owned and operated “Joe’s Gym” in Hillburn, admitted to engaging in sexual contact with the young victims between 2007 and 2014.
