Mamdani Targets Antisemitism With NYC Rights Campaign (patch.com) β New York City is rolling out its first comprehensive municipal strategy to combat antisemitism, with new funding for hate-prevention grants, synagogue security and Jewish cultural institutions in Brooklyn, Queens and beyond. The plan expands Holocaust and Jewish history education for public school students, supports completion of local memorials and centers, and launches a citywide campaign explaining how New Yorkers can report discrimination under human rights laws.

These Are The Best School Districts In NYC, New Ranking Says (patch.com) β New York City parents get fresh insight into school quality with Niche's 2027 rankings, which name District 13 in Brooklyn as the city's top-performing district. Several other NYC geographic districts across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island also earned A-range grades, reflecting strong test scores, student-teacher ratios, and broader measures beyond academics.

Port Authority Using Barges To Move JFK Construction Material (qgazette.com) β If you live near JFK, the Port Authority has cut about 250,000 truck trips by shifting airport construction materials onto barges, easing traffic and pollution on Southeast Queens roads. This new strategy, highlighted during Climate Week NYC, is part of the $19 billion JFK redevelopment and is being praised by local officials for improving air quality, safety, and neighborhood quality of life.

Italian Wine Week Comes to New York City (nypost.com) β New York City wine lovers can explore Italian Wine Week from October 12β25, when more than 100 local shops will highlight special bottles and regional styles. The celebration leads into the Vinitaly.USA trade show at Pier 36 on October 26β27, and neighborhood retailers can still register for free to be featured on the official interactive map and receive trade passes.
