Coronavirus: Clarkstown School District Changes Schedule
A family member of a student tested positive for the new coronavirus, district officials confirmed.
CLARKSTOWN, NY — Clarkstown schools closed Friday so district officials and the Rockland County Health Department could consult over next steps. A family member of a student tested positive for the new coronavirus, district officials confirmed.
"We understand the need to provide information while being sensitive to student privacy matters. At this time, it is appropriate to share with you the specific schools involved, which are Little Tor Elementary and Felix Festa Middle School A," officials said in a message to the community on the website.
Meanwhile, the date for the Superintendent's Conference Day/Professional Development Day has been changed to Monday from March 20. Students will not have school but are expected in class on March 20. On Monday staff will review of prepared learning materials and the opportunity to develop activities for students in the event of an extended closure.

The District Task Force continues meeting and coordinating with the Department of Health and other local and state officials to discuss next steps, said schools Superintendent Martin Cox.
Staff and parents in the affected buildings should follow the CDC guidance about the virus officially known at COVID-19.
