Wind Advisory Issued for Putnam, Rockland, Westchester: NWS

The National Weather Service says wind gusts could exceed 50 mph, which could make driving difficult.

The National Weather Service has issued a notice that includes Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties:

Wind Advisory until January 13, 01:00 PM EST

WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON... * LOCATIONS...THE ENTIRE TRI-STATE REGION. * HAZARDS...STRONG WINDS. * WINDS...WEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 TO 50 MPH. * TIMING...HIGHEST WINDS WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING. * IMPACTS...SCATTERED TREE LIMBS AND BRANCHES DOWNED. ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DIFFICULTY DRIVING HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 31 TO 39 MPH... OR GUSTS OF 46 TO 57 MPH...ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

It will be freezing cold tonight, and it doesn’t warm up again until Friday when temps rebound back into the low to mid 40s.
