Morning Road Rage Arrest After Driver Pointed Gun At Victim: NRPD

Police say the incident took place around 8 a.m., after the victim and the suspect argued on a downtown New Rochelle street.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Police say a road rage incident turned ugly after a man pointed a gun at another motorist.

On Tuesday, around 8 a.m., the New Rochelle Police Department responded to a report of a menacing with a handgun on the 100 block of Winthrop Ave.

The victim told police that he was involved in a dispute with another driver after nearly being cut off while driving. Cops said that the suspect is accused of exiting his vehicle and then approaching the victim before pointing a gun at him during the dispute.

The suspect then fled in his vehicle.

The victim said he didn't know the suspect who was described as a dark-skinned male, according to police.

New Rochelle detectives developed leads and around 5:30 p.m. on the same day, arrested the suspect in the Bronx. Todd Williams, of the Bronx, was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm gun at the time of his arrest. Police say that the 56-year-old complied with the arrest and was taken to New Rochelle police headquarters without incident.

He was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon 2nd degree, harrassment 2nd degree violation, felony criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree (firearms), and misdemeanor menacing 2nd degree.
