Teen Intentionally Hit Pedestrian With Vehicle And Fled Scene: Cops
Police said the "serious assault" took place Wednesday night on North Ave. and that the victim and teenage driver know each other.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A teenage driver is accused of intentionally running down an acquaintance before fleeing the scene.
New Rochelle police say that on Wednesday night, shortly before 10:30 p.m., officers were called to the area near 149 North Ave. on reports of a serious motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian, where the driver left the scene.
The New Rochelle Police Accident Investigators and Criminal Investigation Division detectives learned that the pedestrian was seriously injuried and taken to a trauma center where he is listed in critical but stable condition.

Investigators believe that the driver and pedestrian knew one another and that the collision was intentional.
Detectives soon located the driver, a 17-year-old New Rochelle resident, and arrested him. His name is being withheld due to his age. He was charged with felony assault 1st degree.

Police say that the investigation is ongoing. The name of the victim, a 43-year-old New Rochelle man, is being withheld until his family is notified.
