Police ID Woman, 23, Who Died After North Fork Crash
A young Huntington woman died after a driver from Orient crashed into the vehicle at a red light in Mattituck, police say.

MATTITUCK, NY —Police have identified Rebecca Connelly, of Huntington, as the 23-year old woman who died in a crash that also left three others injured in Mattituck Sunday.
According to Southold Town Police, the two-vehicle crash took place at 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 48 and Westphalia Road.
Richard Morabito, 40, of Orient was heading west on County Route 48 in a gray 2014 Ford SUV, approaching the intersection at Westphalia Road, when he failed to stop for a red light and rear-ended a gray 2017 Honda Civic that was stopped at the light and driven by John Valente, 24, of Huntington, police said.

No charges were filed, police said.
Connelly, who was seated in the passenger seat of the Honda Civic, succumbed to her injuries, police said.

There was one passenger in Morabito's car, police said.
Patients were transported by the Mattituck Fire Department, Cutchogue Fire Department, and Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of their injuries; one person was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk County police helicopter for treatment, police said.
The Southold Town Police Department and Suffolk County District Attorney's office are currently investigating the matter further, police said.
County Road 48 was closed for hours in both directions from Cox Neck Road to Mill Road in Mattituck after the crash, officials said.
