Northport Man Seeks New Home for Cats

Forced to leave his home, a disabled veterans says he can find housing if cats are adopted.

A Northport man, who must leave his rental because the property has been sold, faces a double quandary: where can he afford to move on a fixed income, and what to do with his cats, Loki and Swen?

That’s the scenario for Carl Jensen, 64, who says he is a disabled veteran, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Jensen said that thanks to the support of the Northport VA Medical Center, he is hopeful that he can move to an assisted living facility, where he wouldn’t have to worry about meals or navigating stairs.

However, Jensens says, he must also find a suitable home for his two two-and-a-half year old cats. The cats, he says, are sisters, had all their shots and have been spayed.

“The best thing would be for the two cats to be adopted,” Jensen said. “It opens doors for me in terms of housing. Lots of places don’t want pets, and I understand that.”
