Police Log: Disoriented Woman Found Driving After Not Returning Home for a Week

Excerpts from the Northport Police Department log.

Monday, May 4

At 8:58 p.m., police reported that a driver side swiped a parked car’s mirror after she swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle on Fort Salonga Road. The driver said she left a note on the vehicle’s windshield after she could not locate the owner.

Tuesday, May 5

At 5:33 p.m., police reported a disturbance in which two possibly intoxicated men were saying inappropriate things to female workers at Copenhagen Bakery on Woodbine Avenue. The men left the area before officers arrived.

Wednesday, May 6

At 1 a.m., police reported that a female was driving up and down Main Street without headlights on. Police located the driver and determined that she was confused and disoriented. Officer contacted her family, who said she left home last Thursday and did not return. She was taken to police headquarters until her family picked her up.

At 10:52 a.m., police arrested a 45-year-old Northport man and charged him with petty larceny on Scudder Avenue.

At 7:19 p.m., police reported a disturbance in which theater valet personnel was abusing vehicles in the Saint Philip Neri parking lot on Prospect Avenue. Officers did not locate any hijinks.

At 11:07 p.m., police reported a suspicious event in which a tall, fit, Irish-looking man exited a grey jeep and walked throughout Robkes on Fort Salonga Road without talking. He then drove around Hess and Stop and Shop with his lights off. Officers did not locate the suspect.

Saturday, May 9

At 1:09 a.m., police arrested a 20-year-old Asharoken man and charged him with criminal possession of a forged instrument on Fort Salonga Road.
