
Literacy Volunteers of Rockland County offer programs designed to help adults learn how to read, write, and speak English.
Through these programs, students acheive the ability to speak English, obtain US citizenship, fill out employment applications, earn their GED, or help their children with their homework.
Literacy Volunteers of Rockland County is seeking individuals interested in making a real difference in someone's life as a trained tutor.
Trained tutors and their students will meet one-on-one, at a mutually convenient time at 17 libraries located throughout Rockland County.
The next six-session tutor training will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:45-8:45 p.m. on the following dates:
Mon. Aug. 8;
Wed. Aug. 10
Mon. Aug. 15
Wed. Aug. 17
Mon. Aug. 22
Wed. Aug. 24
All training sessions will be held at at the Suffern Library, off Route 59. Once a tutor's training is completed, she/he can tutor during the day or evening in any of the conveniently located libraries in Rockland County.
