Come take the seeker's journey into the terra incognita of the soul and examine the correspondences between the understandings offered by the wisdom teachers of both Jewish mysticis and yoga. Our inquiry will include an examination of the levels of the soul, the mythology of birth and death, and the intimate connection of the spirit to its incarnated body.
We will explore the Hebrew word for the soul, Neshama, utilizing the dynamism and beauty of the practice called Otiyot Hayyot, literally "Living Letters". This lyrical, yet deliberate art form brings together the worlds of ecstatic movement and the rich mystical understandings of the Hebrew alphabet as taught by the early Kabbalists. Together we will learn how to "em-body" the four focus letters and weave them choreographically into a graceful and meditative body-chant. As we move together, we will put forth the intention of awakening to the Presence of the Divine that rests within all souls.
