The Friends of the Library at St. Thomas Aquinas College presents "Silencing the Soul: The Censorship of Literature about Trauma and Sexuality." Presentations for Banned Books Week will be given by a panel of STAC faculty including Dr. Charles O'Neill, Professor of English, who will speak on James Joyce's Ulysses, and Dr. Michael Shaw, Professor of Education, who will focus on children's and young adult literature that has been banned on the basis of sexual/gender issues and trauma. Opening remarks by Dr. John Durney, Provost/Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Coordinated by Matthew Semel, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. Co-hosted by the Division of Social Sciences.
The Friends of the Library at St. Thomas Aquinas College organizes and sponsors lectures in the library by notable speakers from within and outside the College. All lectures are open to the community.
