Nyack Hospital Restricts Visits Due To COVID-19 Cases
The new guidelines went into effect Tuesday.
NYACK, NY — Montefiore Nyack Hospital has restricted visitors at the hospital due to the rise in coronavirus cases.
The new guidelines went into effect Tuesday.
"We know in-person visits provide support and reassurance for patients and families alike and we pride ourselves on being a patient-and family-centered organization," hospital officials said online. "However, due to local and in house statistics, we have revised our visiting policy."

There are exceptions.
- Labor and Delivery - one support person and a doula may accompany the patient throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period, including recovery.
- Pediatric Unit - one support person may be at the bedside of the child in the Emergency Department or hospitalization. For prolonged hospitalizations, two support people may be designated, but only one can be at the bedside at a time.
- Patients for whom a support person has been determined to be essential to the care of the patient including those with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and patients with cognitive impairments including dementia, can have one support person at the bedside. For prolonged hospitalizations, two support people may be designated, but only on can be at the bedside at a time.
- End-of-life situations provide for one support person or legal representative at the bedside at one time. The family/caregiver may designate two support people, but only one can be at the bedside at a time.
- Those requiring assistance to be seen in an ambulatory setting or coming in for surgery may be accompanied by one support person who must exit once patient leaves the room.
- Emergency Department, one support person is allowed at a time 24/7 and will be screened in accordance with guidelines. If admitted the support person must exit.
