Nyack Man Fights Cops over Companion's Arrest after Woman Complains

It went down on Main Street in Nyack at around 3:39 a.m. Sunday.

NYACK, NY — Orangetown police called to Main Street in Nyack at 3:39 a.m. Oct. 9 talked to a woman who said a Spring Valley man had just touched her in an intimate area without her permission.

Officers attempted to arrest the man, identified as Rashid Evans, and a Nyack resident tried to stop them. Preston Santiago fought with the officers, injuring one, before being subdued, police said.

Evans, 37, is charged with forcible touching, a misdemeanor. He was released on bail.

Santiago, 33, is charged with second degree assault, a felony; resisting arrest, a misdemeanor; obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor; and disorderly conduct, a violation. He was arraigned and taken to Rockland County Jail.
