
This summer, Nyackers have a chance to sit down with the school district's new superintendent, .
"One of my priorities is to maintain a dynamic two-way communication process with all district stakeholders," Montesano explained. "To this end, although my door is always open, I am scheduling time to chat with anyone interested in doing so."
Montesano noted that from July through August 12, he will be available for half-hour meetings with parents and other interested residents. He is available Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additionally, he will be available from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 20, July 27 and August 3.

Montesano took the helm of Nyack Schools in late March. He permanently replaced former superintendent Valencia Douglas—who —and relieved acting interim-superintendent .

Montesano began as superintendent on June 29, and comes from a family of educators—his parents and siblings have careers in public education. According to the proposed 2011-12 district budget, Montesano will make $235,000 yearly, about the same as Douglas.
