Pedestrian Near-Miss Leads to DWI Charge: Police

Orangetown police report an incident and arrest in Nyack early Sunday morning.

Alton Taylor, 24, of Chestnut Ridge is due in Nyack justice court Sept. 15 to answer a charge of driving while intoxicated.

At 2:17 a.m. Aug. 16, an Orangetown police officer saw a car nearly hit someone—police said the pedestrian had to jump back to avoid being struck. The officer stopped the car; its driver failed field sobriety tests.
