Ribbon-Cutting for Speedway in West Nyack

The Autobahn has been drawing a crowd since its opening in March.

The Autobahn Indoor Speedway electric go-kart track at the Palisades Mall held its grand opening Monday and combined it with a fundraising event for charity.

Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann joined Councilman Frank Borelli, county officials, and the Rockland Business Association at the ribbon cutting and grand opening of the indoor speedway.

“I am pleased to welcome the Autobahn Indoor Speedway to the Town of Clarkstown,” said Hoehmann. “This is a great example of what can happen when visionaries and government work together for the common purpose of economic development and creating jobs.”

The speedway opened in March, and immediately drew a crowd, according to its Facebook page.

No wonder, according to Autobahn's Managing Partner, David Larson, "Indoor kart racing has been popular in Europe for many years and has recently found a strong following on the West Coast of the United States. Autobahn Indoor Speedway is extremely excited to be bringing the first European-style indoor electric kart racing facility to the West Nyack area."

“Economic development will continue to be priority of my administration,” Hoehmann continued in a prepared statement. “The Town Board and I are committed to making government more responsive to the needs of those who want to open, relocate or expand a business here. We are making the regulatory and permitting process more efficient to decrease business costs and increase jobs and opportunity. From family entertainment to industry, Clarkstown is open for business.”
