Coronavirus Can't Stop Snow Days: Ossining School Officials

Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez clarified the situation for 2020-21 in a note to parents in advance of Wednesday's storm.

OSSINING, NY — As parents and children watch the weather forecasts predicting a snowstorm will hit the Hudson Valley on Wednesday, it's not surprising that questions have arisen about snow days.

After all, if everyone could attend from home, why not just keep going?

Snow days are still snow days, says Ossining school Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez.

"I am writing to clarify how we intend to address snow days this school year," he said in a note to parents on Monday. "At this time, we will maintain our practice of closing school should we have severe inclement weather that leads us to close school."

He warned that the decision is subject to change based on how snow days affect the 2020-21 school calendar.

"I hope this information helps your family plan," he said.
