There are 753 public libraries in New York State, each with its own designated library service area. Between 95-99% of the support for these libraries comes from local tax dollars. In approximately 87 places within these library service areas, including Ossining which overlaps with both Briarcliff and Yorktown, local residents are paying twice for library service due to the overlap of service areas.
