Eye-Popping Snow Estimates Released For Coming HV Nor'easter

The National Weather Service has revealed a snow total prediction for the storm expected to start Tuesday. Here are the details.

Another nor'easter is on the way and this one is expected to bring a large amount of snow to the already-beleaguered Hudson Valley. Here's the latest from the National Weather Service:

Winter Storm Watches are in effect for Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster and Westchester counties.

For the southern end of the valley:

  • WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches, with localized amounts up to 12 inches, are possible.
  • WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, southern Connecticut and southeast New York.
  • WHEN...From late Tuesday night through late Wednesday night.
  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Significant reductions in visibility are possible.

For Dutchess and Ulster:

  • WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 inches, with localized amounts up to 12 inches, are possible. The best chances for greatest amounts will be across portions of the Taconics, Litchfield Hills, Berkshires, and southern Green Mountains.
