Left In Ruins Set To Rock Out at The Chance in October
Local heavy metal band, Left In Ruins, is set to hit the stage at The Chance in Poughkeepsie on October 1st.
Local Heavy Metal fans have a lot to look forward to as Ossining’s own metal band Left In Ruins takes the stage once again at The Chance in Poughkeepsie on Saturday, October 1st with the band Texas Hippie Coalition and again on Saturday December 10th at Popeye’s pub for a huge Death Metal gig put together by Ossining resident and Left In Ruins member, Jaymz Delisle.
“We'll be returning to the Chance Theater on Saturday, October 1st with Texas Hippie Coalition. If you’re into Black Label Society and Hellyeah, you'll LOVE T.H.C. so it's definitely a show you don’t wanna miss,” said Jaymz Delisle, guitarist and backup vocalist with Left In Ruins. “We'll be at Popeye's Pub on Saturday December 10th as well, for a Huge Death Metal gig I'm putting together with some of my NYDM (New York Death Metal) brothers from the Upstate NY and NJ Chapters.”
Left In Ruins is made up of Luigi - Lead Vocals and guitar, Jorge - Lead Guitar, Ben – Drums, Tom – Bass, and Jaymz Delisle- backup vocals and guitar. They are a metal band with one single mission, to keep the metal genre alive and to keep music the way it is meant to be…fun.

“We're not a political band at all,” said Delisle. “Our main objective is to help keep Heavy Metal alive and strong, and to have our brothers backs and keep the shows fun so people have a reason to leave their house and spend 5 or 10 dollars to get into a show. We just wanna play shows and have a good time and we want every Metal head around to join in with us.”
Aside from the shows, Left in Ruins is also working on a follow up to 2008’s debut album “Straight out of Hell” a record that was produced by Billy Graziadei of Biohazard.

“We are currently in the process of finishing up a 5 song EP which has our brother Alfred Rylands from Shotgun To The Dome and 51B in the producer/engineers chair. We just need to finish up some vocal tracks and get the mixes down and it will be available really soon,” said Delisle. “Straight Out Of Hell definitely shows a lot of maturity from when the band recorded their demo. That album is really heavy and I'm quite proud of it, it shows where the band was at in 2008 and we learned a lot working with Billy. The fact that I got to work on an album of songs that I was a part of writing with a member of one of my favorite bands growing up was truly surreal. Trust me when I say, the new EP is going to be way heavier than our album though. We've written bigger and better songs and the tunes on this EP will make you want to turn your bedroom into a moshpit!”
In addition to having their albums being produced by some of metals most recognizable names, Left in Ruins had the opportunity to open for the legendary punk band, The Misfits, in 2008 an experience that will go down in history as the best gig to date for Delisle.
“The best gig by far was when we opened for The Misfits for the first time in December of 2008 at the Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie. Almost sold out crowd of 700+, we were the only Metal band on the bill with a bunch of sugary pop-punk acts and the legendary Misfits!!!” Delisle recalled. “We got to play literally right before The Misfits so we had the best crowd and by the time we hit the stage everyone there was beyond ready for some Heavy Metal! We felt like we were invincible that night, it was truly amazing.”
Left In Ruins was already a band for several years before Delisle joined their ranks in the fall of 2006 after his old band In Restraints fell apart. He met Left In Ruins front man Luigi one night when he came to see In Restraints open for Powerman 5000. Shortly after, the two bands began to play some shows together and one night Deslisle filled in for Left In Ruins bassist, Mike.
“The guys in Left In Ruins and I started to become really good friends from practicing together while Mike was away and they knew I was about to be bandless so they offered to have me in the band permanently as 3rd guitarist, and of course I agreed,” said Delisle. “With our combined enthusiasm and my contacts and connects from being with In Restraints, it was a perfect fit.”
In addition to being in the Left In Ruins line up, Delisle also hosts two radio shows a week at www.brutalexistenceradio.com and reviews CD’s in a monthly column called “A Little More, More Metal” which appears in the publications More Sugar and The Sound. While Monday night’s show, from 9pm-12am, called “The Shroud” is devoted Doom Metal; Thursday’s show from 7pm -12am called “Up From The Underground” is dedicated to playing and promoting local, unsigned and underground bands.
“I'd like to thank all the people reading, hopefully because of this article I start seeing some new faces at the shows around here. It's really important that we support the music scene and help keep it going,” said Delisle. “Get out there and support these bands, chances are you’re missing out on your next favorite song and you don’t even know it!!!”
