Local Illustrator Visits Croton-Harmon High School

Croton-on-Hudson resident and acclaimed artist Jerry Pinkney visited the school during a special artist-in-residence workshop.

From Croton-Harmon School District: Croton-on-Hudson resident and acclaimed artist and illustrator Jerry Pinkney offered Croton-Harmon High School students insight into his life, work, inspiration and artistic process during a special artist-in- residence workshop at the Croton Free Library. “CHHS art students from Drawing and Painting, Advanced Drawing and Painting and AP Studio Art classes attended the workshop,” said art teacher Jodi Burger.

After learning about Pinkney’s background, students toured the library’s Ottinger gallery to view his work that will be on display through April.

“Finally, the students went into the brand-new MakerSpace, where Jerry demonstrated his from-life drawing techniques in pastel while the students also drew, watched and asked many questions,” said Burger. “It was an amazing experience and they really enjoyed meeting Jerry, learning about his life and watching him work.”
