Check out the great advice we got from Beth Geisel at Bloomingdales in White Plains, NY on the importance of a well-fitting bra!
Before we started Modern Wedding Mom and were still learning about the importance of correctly-fitting undergarments and shapewear, we had never really gotten measured by a lingerie expert. As we became more interested in fashion, style, and dressing for our body shapes, we took it upon ourselves to get measured. And the results? Holy Cow! Turns out Mom had always thought she was a 34 B or C size bra, but measured up as a 32 DD!!
This experience really helped to shed light on an important fact. You may be a certain size in your twenties or thirties, but our bodies are constantly changing. Mom hadn’t been measured for her bra size in over 20 years and it turns out her body had changed dramatically, even though her weight remained the same.
We are recounting this experience to point out the importance of really knowing your body and body shape before you purchase your mother of the bride or mother of the groom dress and have it altered. Beth Geisel, intimate apparel specialist at Bloomingdales in White Plains, New York, has had numerous experiences with MOBs and MOGs having their dresses altered before getting measured for a well-fitting bra and shapewear. Once they had on the right undergarments, their dresses no longer fit properly! We wanted to share this tip with all of you.
